MOB equipment is critical safety equipment on board boats where it is a requirement, and is subject to very special requirements for control, inspection and recertification.
The main rule is that the supplier, i.e. the MBH, should be present during yearly inspection, «intermediate class» and 5-year (4-year for fishing vessels) main inspection and recertification. Ref SOLAS.
